Who Runs This Site

Disclaimer

Cairns is an independent, third-party project. It is not Ontario Parks and does not claim any official status or authority on behalf of Ontario Parks or the Government of Ontario. This Privacy Notice describes only how Cairns collects, uses, and protects your information — it does not apply to Ontario Parks' own website, reservation system, or services, which are governed by their own privacy policies.

What Data Is Collected

This site uses basic analytics to understand how many people visit and where they come from. Before signing up, only anonymous usage data is recorded: page views, general navigation behaviour, device type, browser, country etc. No personal data is collected at this stage and no individual visitor is identifiable from this data.

Email Sign-Ups

If you choose to join the waitlist, your email address is collected solely to notify you about the project's progress. At this point, your visit data is linked to your email internally. This data is not shared with third parties or used for any other purpose. You can request removal at any time by emailing us directly.

Survey Responses

This site includes optional survey questions to help understand how people use Ontario Parks. Survey answers are used only to inform the concept and will not be shared with third parties. At the end of the survey, you may optionally provide your email address if you are open to a follow-up interview. This is entirely optional and unrelated to the waitlist.

Cookies

This site does not use cookies for its own analytics. If you arrive via a Meta advertisement (Facebook, Instagram, or Threads), Meta's advertising tools may set a cookie in your browser to measure ad performance and attribute your visit to a specific ad. This is controlled by Meta as a separate party – please, see Meta's own privacy policy for details, or manage your ad preferences directly in your Meta account settings.

Data Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel. Site analytics are handled by PostHog using privacy-preserving, cookieless tracking; this analytics data is processed and stored on servers located in the European Union (Germany). Waitlist email addresses and survey responses are stored securely and accessed only by the project owner.

If you arrive via a Meta advertisement, limited information about your visit – such as which ad was clicked and whether you later joined the waitlist – may also be shared with Meta to help measure and improve ad performance.

PIPEDA

This site operates in Ontario, Canada. Waitlist email addresses and any email provided via the survey are collected with your consent and used only for the stated purpose, in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you have any questions or concerns, contact via the email above.
